What is open on Christmas Day?

Christmas Day is here, and with that come a number of closures for the holidays.

But for those looking for some last-minute shopping or a creative way to spend the day, there are a few things that remain open.

CLOSED:

Government buildings, banks, Canada Post, and ICBC offices are closed today.

LIQUOR STORES:

CLOSED:
BC Liquor stores

OPEN:
Some private liquor stores remain open, such as:

  • Jak’s Liquor (multiple locations)
  • John B Liquor store in Coquitlam
  • Burrard Liquor Store at 2401 Burrard Street
  • Crosstown Liquor Store at 568 Abbott Street

LIBRARIES:

CLOSED:

  • Most branches of the Vancouver Public Library (VPL)

OPEN:

  • VPL’s Carnegie Branch on Main Street

MALLS:

  • Most malls, including CF Pacific Centre, Metropolis At Metrotown, and the Amazing Brentwood, are closed

GROCERY STORES:

Some grocery stores, such as Save on Foods and Whole Foods, are closed, while some IGA stores may be open.

ATTRACTIONS:

There are a limited number of attractions open around the Lower Mainland, including:
-Holiday Splash at the Vancouver Aquarium, which features festivities like ‘scuba clause.’
-Robson Square ice rink
-Lights at Lafarge (starting at 4)
-Lights of Hope at St. Paul’s Hospital
-Dundarave Festival of Lights, showcasing over 150 christmas trees in West Vancouver.
-Grouse Mountain, Cypress Mountain, and Mount Seymour are open for certain activities

MOVIES:

-Cineplex theatres are open
