A train derailment in Surrey overnight resulted in some coal being spilled on the rails and nearby, Surrey Fire Service Assistant Fire Chief Darren Major tells CityNews.
How much coal was spilled is unclear, and details are sparse.

Major says the derailment happened overnight, and fire crews were called to the area, on Colebrook Road near 125A Avenue, Friday morning.

“Some trains did leave the track. And there was a spill, it would just be coal,” he said.
Major says he isn’t sure if the derailment has prevented any other trains from passing through.
No injuries have been reported.
As of noon Friday, Major said they remain on the scene and are working and coordinating with the province and Metro Vancouver.
