The goal for an online fundraiser for the family of Ridge Meadows RCMP Const. Rick O’Brien, who was killed in the line of duty in Coquitlam Friday morning, keeps increasing as initial targets are quickly being met.
The GoFundMe campaign’s initial $10,000 goal was reached within three hours after an outpouring of financial support from the community.
The campaign’s revised goal of $25,000 was also met shortly after. It was then revised to $35,000. But it didn’t stop there.

As of early Saturday afternoon, the campaign had raised almost $47,000 of the newly revised target of $50,000. And as of Sunday morning, the target has been revised to $100,000.
The money will go towards helping the family deal with upcoming expenses.
Mounties say the 51-year-old officer was shot and killed in the line of duty while conducting a search warrant as part of a larger investigation. Two other officers were hospitalized with injuries.
The campaign was launched by the National Police Federation Benevolent Foundation, in partnership with the National Police Federation.
