2 bodies found in U.S. waters after kayakers reported missing off Vancouver Island

Police in Washington are confirming that the bodies of two kayakers who had gone missing over the weekend off Vancouver Island have been found.
San Juan County Sheriff Eric Peter says late Monday afternoon police received a report of a body floating in the water by Grandma’s Cove on the west side of San Juan Island.
“We did recover one person who was deceased,” Peter told CityNews Tuesday.
CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO 1130 NEWSRADIO VANCOUVER LIVE!A second body was found Tuesday morning, Peter says, after receiving reports around 6:30 a.m. of a body floating in Middle Channel, south San Juan Island and west of Lopez Island.
“The sheriff’s boat was launched again, and the deceased body of one male was recovered from the water and turned over to the coroner’s office.”
Peter confirms both bodies have been turned over to the county’s coroner’s office for formal identification.
Daniel MacAlpine and Nicolas West were travelling on a tandem kayak between Island View Beach and D’Arcy Island on Saturday when they disappeared.
The kayak the men were paddling in was found on Sunday off the coast of Henry Island.
The men were last known to be kayaking between D’arcy Island and Island View Beach in Central Saanich on Saturday around 2 p.m, the North Saanich RCMP said over the weekend.
