Front Street in New Westminster reopened after train derailment

Front Street was closed in New Westminster Tuesday after an early morning train derailment.

The New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) said crews were on scene at the “minor” derailment at 4th Street.

Police originally said the street was expected to remain closed well into the day. In an update around 10 a.m., the NWPD announced, “The train derailment has been cleared up and traffic is open in both directions on Front Street.”
