Police out in full force for Halloween

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – Police forces across the province will be increasing enforcement in several communities this Halloween. Abbotsford Police Constable Ian McDonald says it’s because it falls on a Saturday night during the time change. “It’s going to be dark and we know it’s going to be a busy Saturday night to add some inclement weather, I think we’re going to be in for a challenging evening. We’re hoping we can get some cooperation from the public.” Surrey RCMP Sergeant Roger Morrow says they will have three times the number of officers they would normally have on the streets. “We’re going to have an addition to the regular members in their uniforms and marked cars. We’re going to have a number of plain clothes police officers… as well as some volunteers.” Officers will focus on keeping trick-or-treaters safe and they’ll be going after impaired drivers. Vancouver Police will also be shutting down the Granville entertainment district to traffic.
