Sedin twins among players inducted into Hockey Hall of Fame Monday

After spending their entire careers with the Vancouver Canucks, the Sedin twins are about to be enshrined in hockey history.

Henrik and Daniel Sedin are being officially inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame Monday.

The pair admit they never saw themselves as Hockey Hall of Famers, and Daniel says they are feeling uneasy about speaking in front of a crowd at the ceremony.

“That’s the one thing that we’re both maybe a little bit nervous about, the speech, but I’m excited, and will try to enjoy it, and just go up there because you want to also thank the other people that has been with us throughout all these years. So, I think it’s a good opportunity to do that,” Daniel told reporters Sunday.

When asked why they were so loyal to the Canucks organization, Daniel says it would have “been easy” to give up.

“But we wanted to show people that we know we can play. That’s how we treated every year and every day pretty much, trying to get better and that’s why we played for so long,” Daniel said.

Henrik says he leaned on a lot of teammates along the way, but nobody was more important than his brother.

“We went through everything together. We knew that someone else went through the exact same thing that you did, and to be able to talk to someone daily about those issues or good things I think that’s huge. For anyone, I think about to have your brother there, obviously makes it easier,” Henrik explained.

The twins are among this year’s inductees which also include former teammate Roberto Luongo, former Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson, and Bernice Carnegie, daughter of builder Herb Carnegie. The ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. Monday.
