Heavy rain on the way for Metro Vancouver

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a rainfall warning for much of Metro Vancouver, as the region looks like it will be hit by another storm Monday evening.

The weather service says Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Coquitlam, and Maple Ridge will see the heaviest falls. Areas near Howe Sound, including Squamish, will also be affected.

ECCC says rain showers will intensify through the day and into the night, expecting 50 to 70 millimetres of rain to fall through to Tuesday afternoon.

“Heavy rain will taper off to a few showers Tuesday afternoon with the passage of the system. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Don’t approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts,” the weather service said.
