Friday marks five years since an unsolved Surrey homicide rocked the Lower Mainland.
Paul Bennett was a local nurse who was gunned down in the driveway of his home in a case of mistaken identity in 2018.
Bennett left behind his wife and two young boys.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) that year said he was the unintended victim of a targeted shooting.
Darlene Bennett at the time described her husband as the kind of man who wore his heart on his sleeve and volunteered his time freely as a hockey coach for their boys or to fill shifts at the hospital where he worked.
“He loved being a nurse, especially working in the operating room,” she said Thursday. “He found his element in the midst of chaos. There’s always opportunity to save a life or improve it.”
He didn’t have a criminal record and wasn’t involved in any criminal activity, she told a news conference through tears.
“We are grieving and traumatized by his loss and praying to understand why this has happened to our family. “
