Charges laid in January Granville Street shooting

The Vancouver Police Department says Crown prosecutors have approved charges in relation to a downtown shooting in January.

The VPD says the shooting happened in the Granville Entertainment District just after 10 p.m. on Jan. 17.

Police say a 32-year-old victim was standing near Granville and Nelson streets when he was hit. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Forty-one-year-old Jeremy Pete has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a loaded firearm, police say.

According to court documents online, Pete remains in custody as he awaits to appear in court.
