After BC Ferries cancelled a handful of sailings early Friday morning, the ferry service says repairs have been completed and the sailings have been reinstated.
BC Ferries said the Coastal Celebration was having mechanical problems, forcing cuts on its Swartz Bay route.
The 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. sailings from departing Swartz Bay were cancelled, while the 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. from Tsawwassen were also canned.
Just after 8 a.m., the ferry service said the repairs needed to the Celebration had been completed, and the vessel will sail in the afternoon.
The urgent repairs come as the Coastal Renaissance has been in dry dock receiving repairs for months.
Meanwhile BC Ferries is also advising customers that a tech update Saturday night will temporarily take down its website and mobile app.
The scheduled maintenance between 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 to 7 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19 is to “improve the digital experience, security and performance of our systems,” the ferry service explained.
“For assistance during the outage, contact our Customer Service Centre at 1-888-223-3779. Customer service agents will be available until 10:00 pm,” it said.
“We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.”
