Pedestrian hit by vehicle in Chilliwack taken to hospital in critical condition: EHS

A pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle in Chilliwack Tuesday morning has been taken to hospital in critical condition.

The Chilliwack RCMP says it happened along Spruce Drive between Vedder Road and Wiltshire Street, shutting Spruce Drive in both directions for hours.

Mounties explain an elderly man was found with serious injuries and was air lifted to the hospital by BC Emergency Health Services. As of Wednesday, the man was reportedly in stable condition.

In a statement to CityNews Tuesday, BC Emergency Health Services said it was called to the area around 10:45 a.m. Two ambulances were dispatched, with BCEHS saying, “paramedics cared for one patient, who was transported to meet … an air ambulance and flown to hospital.”

Police say the driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
