ICBC has released its latest list of bad crash locations and many of them shouldn’t come as a surprise.
A location commuters hear about daily is at the top of the list. The Alex Fraser Bridge and Cliveden Avenue on- and off-ramps saw 442 crashes in 2023, according to the province’s auto insurer.
CityNews traffic anchor Alex Carrigan believes the area is just a bad spot.
“I think there’s two things in particular with the Alex Fraser Bridge — it’s a multi-lane on- and off-ramp. You’re up to about four or five lanes going northbound on the Alex Fraser Bridge, and people are coming in hot,” he said.

Trailing close behind that intersection was the 264 Street and 56 Avenue intersection in Langley, which saw 440 crashes last year.
Other intersections and locations to make the list included the Knight Street Bridge and Marine Drive in Vancouver and the Brunette Avenue on and off-ramps off Highway 1 in Coquitlam.
“One of the big things that stood out to me, is that Highway 1 on- and off-ramps are on the list five times on a list of 10. That speaks to the popularity of Highway 1, and three of them are in Langley,” Carrigan added.
