Police investigating early morning stabbing at North Vancouver bus stop

The North Vancouver RCMP says it is investigating a stabbing that happened at a bus stop early Thursday morning.

Mounties say they responded to reports of the stabbing at a bus shelter on Marine Drive near Capilano Road at around 5:30 a.m.

Paramedics and police found the victim near a gas station on the opposite side of Marine drive.

“It’s alleged that the victim was sleeping at the bus shelter when a male assaulted him. The victim was able to run away and call for help. The injuries sustained by the victim are consistent with knife wounds,” Mounties said in a news release.

Const. Mansoor Sahak tells 1130 NewsRadio police don’t know the identity of the suspect.

“There is very little information, but at this point in the investigation, we’ve determined that the victim and the suspect may have known each other,” he said.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have not yet identified a motive.

Witnesses and drivers with dash cam footage from the area between 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Thursday are asked to call police at 604-985-1311 and quote file #24-18160.
