Pedestrian in critical condition after being struck by vehicle in Abbotsford

A 20-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in Abbotsford Friday morning, police and emergency health services say.

Crews responded to the intersection of Townline Road and Upper Maclure Road just after 11 a.m.

“Two ambulances with primary care paramedics, two ambulances with advanced care paramedics, and an air ambulance helicopter with critical care paramedics responded to the scene,” BC Emergency Health Services said.

“Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient who was transported to hospital in critical condition via air ambulance.”

AbbyPD Sgt. Paul Walker, media relations officer says the driver was uninjured, remained at the scene, and is cooperating.

“AbbyPD Patrol Officers, with the assistance of the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS), remain on the scene and are in the early stages of this investigation,” Walker said.

As of 2:30 p.m., the intersection remains closed.
