The city of Burnaby has opened four cooling centers as temperatures are expected to rise into the 30s this week when you factor in the humidex.
Locations include the Cameron Community Centre, the Eileen Daily Leisure Pool and Fitness Centre and the Edmonds Community Centre.
All four spots will be open from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.
The cooling centres are all equipped with air-conditioned, seating, drinking water, washrooms and free public Wi-Fi.
Additionally, the Society to End Homelessness in Burnaby is also hosting two pop-up outdoor cooling locations that will be operational from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Those outdoor locations are Civic Square and Kensington Park.
Burnaby is also offering cool down options at local parks.
Let’s stay cool when it gets hot. Many Burnaby parks have large shade trees and cooling features like misting stations, spray parks and outdoor pools. Parks can often be cooler than homes without air conditioning. More tips: https://t.co/ywBM7JZolL pic.twitter.com/8b0TuGrEW1
